Luigi Piero Solimeno, MD
Dr Luigi Solimeno is the Director of Emergency Trauma Department and Rare Desease Service at IRCCS Cà Granda Foundation, Maggiore Hospital, Milan, Italy; a post he has held since 2015. Dr Solimeno has specialized in haemophilia care after undertaking a Fellowship in 1988, researching leg-length discrepancies in haemophilic patients, at the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center, Milan. In 2001, he became Senior Surgeon at Ortho-Trauma Center Hospital of Milan and Head of Hemophilic Arthropathy Treatment Unit. Dr Solimeno is past-Chair of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Musculo Skeletal Committee (2010). To date, he has performed more than 800 major orthopaedic surgeries in patients with haemophilia and authored approximately 91 haemophilia-related publications. Dr Solimeno was also the lead organizer for the 1st Italian congress on musculo skeletal problems related to hemophilia (2003) and the WFH 10th International Musculoskeletal Congress (2007).
