Assistant Professor
Department of Medicine, McMaster University
Dr. Davide Matino is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Division of Hematology and Thromboembolism) at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Matino’s main research interests include inhibitor development in hemophilia A, novel therapies for hemophilia, and the pharmacokinetic of clotting factor concentrates in hemophilia A and B. His basic science program is investigating the roles and functions of coagulation factor VIII and factor IX, the molecular mechanisms of hemophilia A and B and therapeutic approaches targeting other coagulation proteins, such as Von Willebrand Factor and Fibrinogen and their role in thrombosis and hemostasis. He is an active clinical trial investigator involved in numerous trials in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis with a specific focus on novel therapies for hemophilia, such as gene therapy, gene editing, FVIII-mimetic molecules, and coagulation rebalancing agents. Dr. Matino also directs a basic research lab investigating roles and functions of coagulation factor VIII and factor IX, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research program and several industry-funded research grants. Dr. Matino is a member of the Novel Therapies Committee of the Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors of Canada (AHCDC) and a member of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2024 Inherited Bleeding Disorders Theme Committee.
