Pedro Jorge Pereira da Graça completed his medical degree at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 2000, before completing his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Santa Maria University Hospital, Lisbon, Portugal, in 2007. In 2005, Dr Graça completed a postgraduate degree in Sports Medicine and in 2012 completed a postgraduate degree in Medical Acupuncture.
From 2010 to 2017 Dr Graça, worked with the Department of Imunohemotheraphy at the Hospital de Santa Maria, Lisbon, Portugal, as a member of the multidisciplinary team of the Reference Center for Congenital Coagulopathies, taking care on the prevention, treatment and follow-up of patients with bleeding disorders; providing education to the patients, families and healthcare providers; performing specialized treatment in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, treating musculoskeletal disabilities; and performing ultrasound for the diagnosis of bleeding episodes and follow-up of these patients.
Dr Graça works since 2018 as a Consultant Physiatrist in the field of hemophilia for the Department of Hematology, at the Hospital Central de Maputo, Mozambique, peforming ultrasound in patients with hemophilia.
Dr Graça has participated in several meetings and training courses. He has several years of experience working with the Haemophilia Early Arthropathy Detection with UltraSound (HEAD-US) scanning protocol and has been an Expert Trainer since 2015.
Since 2019, Dr. Graça became familiar with the Joint Tissue Activity and Damage Exam (JADE ) ultrasound protocol for the assessment of patients with hemophilia. Since 2023, he is a Expert Trainer member of the team lecturing the JADE protocol.
He was a member of the board of the College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Portuguese Medical Association for the triennium 2015–2018 and a founding member of the Interest Group on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound of the Portuguese Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Society.
