Nurse Specialist
The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
I have been an Adult Haematology Nurse since 2007, having worked in both the malignant and non-malignant settings. My passion for Haemophilia led to a promotion in 2012 as a Haemophilia Nurse Specialist, at The Royal Victoria Infirmary Comprehensive Care Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, where I have worked since 2011. As an integrated centre that cares for both adult and paediatric patients with bleeding disorders, I have a particular interest in transition for adolescents and improving communication between MDT members about addressing sexuality with our patients.
As a healthcare professional working in the bleeding disorders community, it is a privilege to be a part of such a dynamic, enthusiastic group of professionals, who share my passion for providing the very best patient care for our patient group, not just nationally but internationally. It is an exciting time within the bleeding disorders community currently, especially as we embark on a new era of novel therapies such as gene therapy and one which I am glad to be part of. Amongst other aspects of my role, I especially love that we develop a rapport with our patients and their families life-long and can provide them with innovation year on year. I am dedicated to a collaborative approach to improving care services for patients with bleeding disorders.
