Following his MD at the University of Geneva, Alessandro Casini undertook a postdoctoral training at the Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine, working on the functional study of fibrin clot structure. He joined the Angiology-Hemostasis division of the University Hospitals of Geneva where is responsible in care of patients with bleeding disorders. He is the president of the International Fibrinogen Physician and Patients Association. Main research interests are related to congenital fibrinogen deficiencies focusing on the epidemiology, the genetics, the fibrin clot properties, and the genotype-phenotype correlation. He contributed to publication of landmark papers on congenital fibrinogen disorder, international guidelines and is principal investigator of several international clinical trial on fibrinogen.
