Dr. Hayward is an MD PhD and clinical and laboratory hematologist who is Professor of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, and Medicine, at McMaster University, and the Head of Coagulation for the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program in Canada. Dr. Hayward has published extensively, with over 10,000 citations. She is considered an expert on platelet disorders and the clinical and laboratory diagnostic evaluation of bleeding disorders. Dr. Hayward is Past President of the Thrombosis Hemostasis Societies of North America (THSNA), the International Society for Laboratory Hematology (ISLH) and the North American Specialized Coagulation Laboratory Association. She is the Director of the McMaster University Fellowship Programs in Advanced Laboratory Coagulation/Hemostasis and Advanced Clinical and Laboratory Coagulation/Hemostasis and supervises Hematology and General Pathology Trainees during their Coagulation Rotation. As a clinician scientist, Dr. Hayward has received many honors and awards, including the Gold Medal award from McMaster University and from the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
