Saliou Diop is a Professor of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in Dakar Cheikh Anta Diop University, the main one in Senegal. He is also the Director of the National Blood Transfusion Services in Senegal. After a specialization in clinical hematology, he completed his studies in France (University Paris V, Paris VI and Paris VII) with master degrees in blood cell biology, blood transfusion, immunology and molecular biology. He is particularly interested on diagnosis and management of inherited bleeding disorders in Africa and is currently the head of the International Hemophilia Treatment Center in Dakar, Senegal. Prof Diop works with various stakeholders in many African countries to improve the diagnosis and management of this disease. He is involved in many research activities including blood transfusion safety, hematologic diseases particularly hemoglobinopathies and inherited bleeding disorders published in peer reviewed journals. He 's actually the President of the Francophone Africa Society of Hematology and President of the Africa Society for blood transfusion He was member of the World Federation of Hemophilia Board of Directors from 2014 to 2022.
