Introduction: Pamela Narayan
Pamela Narayan is a physiotherapist who graduated from Christian Medical College, Vellore in 1991 and completed her MSc in Physiotherapy from University of East London, UK in 1997.
She is committed to raising awareness about the role of physiotherapy in hemophilia at the local, national and international level.
She held the following posts on the MSK Committee of the WFH:
Member-at-Large: 2008-2010
Secretary: 2010-2014
She has completed two terms on the Executive Committee Board of the Hemophilia Federation (India) and has been on the Medical Advisory Board of the HFI since 2014 to 2019.
She has run:
Hemophilia Musculoskeletal workshops for both physiotherapists and pwh all over South Asia including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
Physiotherapy workshops to raise awareness amongst PWH about the importance of exercise and activity in the several cities and towns along the length and breadth of India.
She has been an invited speaker several times at the WFH World Congress and MSK meetings since 2002.
Published several articles in the Haemophilia journal and co-authored chapters in books.
Was awarded a grant from NNHF to look at the MSK issues among PWH in India in 2015.
The project was awarded the Project of the Year 2019.
More recently was the MSK lead in a national level implementation project which helped harmonise standards of practice in Haemophilia care across 6 major health centres in India.
